Cookies and Storage
This page describes, literally, what the Living Canedo site stores in your browser. In summary:
- The site uses no cookies, neither its own nor third-party ones.
- It stores a single piece of information in the browser: a technical session key that avoids repeating the entrance animation, described in point 3.
- Audience measurement is done without cookies and in aggregate, described in point 4.
- There is no advertising, no tracking networks, and no sharing of data for that purpose.
This page is an English translation of the Portuguese original, provided for convenience. In the event of any divergence between the two texts, the Portuguese version is the binding one and prevails. You can read it here: Cookies e Armazenamento.
1. What cookies and browser storage are
A cookie is a small file that a site asks the browser to store and that is returned to it on each visit, allowing it, for example, to recognise the same browser over time. There are other ways of storing information on the user's device, technically distinct from cookies but with the same legal framework, among them session storage ("sessionStorage"), which is what this site uses and which lasts only while the tab is open.
2. This site does not use cookies
As at the date this page was last updated, the site installs no cookie whatsoever in your browser: no cookies of its own, no third-party cookies, no advertising, ad-measurement or social network cookies. This statement was verified technically against the published site, with the audience measurement tool active, by inspecting the browser's complete cookie list after loading the page, moving through the site and interacting with it: that list was empty.
Because there are no cookies and no other non-essential storage, the site shows no consent banner: there is nothing to consent to. The applicable Portuguese law (Lei n.º 41/2004, de 18 de agosto, as currently in force, which transposes the directive on privacy in electronic communications) dispenses with prior consent for storage that is strictly necessary for providing the service requested by the user, which is the only case that exists on this site, described below.
3. Strictly necessary technical storage
The site's home page opens with a brief entrance animation. So that this animation is not repeated on every navigation within the same visit, the site stores a marker in the browser:
- Name: lc:preloader-seen
- Type: sessionStorage (it is not a cookie and is never sent to any server)
- Content: the value "1", merely the indication that the animation has already run
- Purpose: not to repeat the entrance animation during the same visit
- Duration: deleted automatically by the browser when you close the tab or the window
This marker contains no personal data, is not an identifier, does not make it possible to recognise you on a subsequent visit and is not shared with anyone. It is the only storage the site creates of its own accord.
4. Audience measurement without cookies
To know which pages are viewed and how often, the site uses Vercel Web Analytics, an audience measurement tool that does not use cookies and that produces aggregate statistics. On our side, this information is not used for advertising, to personalise the site's content or to identify you individually.
On the provider's side, Vercel Inc. publicly documents how this tool works (vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy): without resorting to cookies, the visitor is distinguished by a code ("hash") calculated from the request received, and that session is not stored permanently, being automatically discarded after 24 hours.
Each record may contain the date and time, the URL and the page's dynamic path, the origin of the visit, the filtered query parameters, the country, the region and the city, the operating system and the browser with their versions, the device type and the script version. None of this is stored in your browser, and the result is an aggregate statistic, which does not make it possible to reconstruct your path across sites or to identify you personally. The Privacy Policy, point 3.3, returns to this from the point of view of personal data processing.
5. Fonts and images
The site's fonts and images are served from the site itself — including the Lora and Poppins typefaces, which are of Google origin but are copied into this site when it is built, precisely so that using them does not involve any request to Google. Viewing a page therefore generates no requests to third-party servers to load them.
6. Links to third-party services
The site's contact buttons open services that are not ours: the "Book a Viewing" button opens WhatsApp, the address opens Google Maps in a new page, and the telephone and email contacts open the applications on your own device. These links load nothing until you click them; from the moment you leave the site, the cookie and privacy policies of those entities apply, over which we have no control.
7. How to control or delete this storage
- Close the tab or the window: the session key described in point 3 is deleted automatically.
- In your browser's settings you can, at any time, review and delete the data stored by this and by any other site, normally in the privacy section, "site data" or "cookies and site data".
- A private or incognito browsing window discards all of that storage when it is closed.
Deleting this key has no consequence for you: at most, the entrance animation is played once again.
8. Changes to this page
If the site comes to use cookies or any other non-essential storage (for example, with the introduction of a contact form), this page is updated before that change takes effect and the consent mechanism that the law requires at that time will be considered.
